EastEnders' Tamzin Outhwaite devastated by loss of aunt as she shares tribute

EastEnders veteran Tamzin Outhwaite, who played Mel Owen across more than 600 episodes, has sadly announced the death of her Auntie Sandra on Instagram.

"My Godmother, my mum’s sister, my formidable, unique aunt who was like another mum to me whilst growing up. We watched her lose her husband when she had 4 young children. Sandra seemed to sail through life, cooking, laughing, being the hostess, the life and soul. She then lost her son and then her sister."

The emotional post sparked an outpouring of support from Tamzin's nearest and dearest, with All Saints singer Nicole Appleton sharing: "She was just wonderful! Sending you and the family so much love."Kate Thornton warmly added: "She was a very special soul and had dealt with more than most of us can begin to comprehend. A truly remarkable woman.

Next to a sunny selfie of the pair together at sea, the This Morning presenter, 42, shared: "Sleep well Sandra… Nonna, Mother, Sister, friend… To know her was to know strength itself… Raising four children after losing her husband, she then lost a son and more recently her sister…
