East Kilbride MSP highlights increase in Scottish social security assistance

East Kilbride MSP Collette Stevenson has highlighted that everyone who receives support from Social Security Scotland will see an increase in the amount of assistance they receive.

“From the beginning of April, each and every one of these support payments will increase by 6.7 per cent – that is down to the SNP Government taking action to protect household budgets in East Kilbride from a Westminster inflicted cost of living crisis.” Social Justice Secretary Shirley-Anne Somerville said: “Our investment in social security helps low-income families with their living costs, enables disabled people to live full and independent lives, and supports older people to heat their homes in winter.
