EA is phasing out its Origin client on Windows for its new EA app. Thankfully, Origin and the EA app won't be needed to play the Dead Space remake on Steam.

Other features listed include account integration with Steam, Xbox and PlayStation, automatic game downloads, and background updates.

For Origin users, an invite will be sent out when all their games and content from Origin will be"ready and waiting" on the EA app. Local and cloud saves will be automatically transferred across. The announcement of the EA app comes alongside confirmation that EA's own launchers won't be needed to play the upcoming Dead Space remake through Steam. It's still very poor. Can't scroll above 60fps, which is quite jarring on high refresh monitors. The actual app itself still crashes and hitches constantly. Yes it's better than origin, but taking discs out of a case was more convenient than Origin.
