Coronavirus: Durham police lockdown travel fines revealed

The BBC's Freedom of Information requests covered the first two and a half weeks of the regulations, including the Easter Weekend.

Another FPN was given to a man who was"taking his motorbike for a ride" 10 miles from his home address.Civil liberties campaigners say there is no consistency in how the rules have been applied and are calling for a review of the"unjust" fines.

"The government urgently needs to pare back the powers, create a right to appeal and review every fine issued." "If Mr Cummings' actions amounted to a 'reasonable excuse', including his test drive or day trip, how does this affect those convicted who might have put forward similar reasons?"On Tuesday, Health Secretary Matt Hancock was asked by a member of the public at the daily coronavirus press briefing whether the government would review fines for people travelling for"childcare purposes".

The press are scum, surely they must know that, they will go to any lengths to get what they want, nothing at all to do with reporting the news. They are like the school yard bully. Always pecking at the latest victim until the people who they are bullying, jumps under a bus

By that headline you would think the police had revealed them voluntarily, but no the BBC made a FOI request specifically dated for the time Cummings left London to the date he returned and wanting only fines issued by the force, there was 2! What was reason for travel?

Why haven't any journalists been arrested? The public watch night after night as huge gangs of them shoulder barge each other and members of the public as they jostle for a shot. How can we respect the law when that's beamed into our TV sets each night whilst police look on?

If only the police would do something about members of the press who don't social distance.

For goodness sake, give it a bloody rest!

What's to consider? He should be fined at the very least!

One child is not an exceptional circumstance

Don't they have feet to run off with, if they go near you they are spreading a virus which is worse than you being out with a poodle socially distanced, how hard is it to understand lol

Do they include reports of MSM hounding?

Flogging a dead horse - move on.

Are the travel fines fair?
