'We're really pleased with the initial results'

Drug and gang-related crime in two Northamptonshire towns is in decline, according to Northamptonshire Police. The Force says the launch of Operation Revive in January, which takes a different approach to crime, has resulted in an increase in intelligence and safeguarding.

The operation was introduced into Northampton at the beginning of 2023 and places more focus on preventing violent crime as it does enforcement, as well as making it easier for members of the public to report issues of concern to police. The new approach has led to nine arrests and 77 intelligence logs in the past seven weeks. A spokesperson from Northants Police said: "we're really pleased with the initial results we are seeing".

A warrant executed in Swale Drive at the beginning of the month also uncovered a quantity of Class A and Class B drugs, a knuckle duster, mobile phones, cash and drug dealing equipment. “One of the main things we want to achieve through this operation is to instil confidence in our communities that they can pass information onto us without fear and with the belief that we will act on their intelligence. We know that there are concerns about reprisals when people speak to the police but we don’t necessarily need to know who you are, just what you know. We will never reveal the sources of our information, unless we have your express permission.
