Shortly before 10pm, Barkerhouse Road was flooded with blue lights. A car had been brought to a halt by officers from Lancashire Constabulary .
A white people carrier appears to have blocked the vehicle in before several other patrol cars arrived on the scene.A cordon was put in place as a large crowd of people gathered in the area to the east of Nelson town centre, close to Marsden News. Eyewitnesses described the incident as 'scary'.
