Firefighters were scrambled after a caravan went up in flames in Rochdale. The drama unfolded at around 5pm this evening .
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said a caravan in a field off Manchester Road just outside the town centre had caught fire. Pictures from the scene showed bright orange flames lapping up in the air and thick black smoke billowing out into the air. Crews spent an hour tackling the blaze, which left the caravan badly damaged. There are no reports of any injuries.A GMFRS spokesperson said: “At 5pm on Saturday 5 August, firefighters were called out to a fire on Manchester Road in Rochdale.
“Two fire engines from Rochdale Fire Station quickly attended the scene where a caravan in a yard was on fire. Crews used two hose reels to extinguish the fire and were in attendance for approximately one hour. The caravan was left severely damaged by the fire.”
