However, it seems the team isn’t content to make Deadrop just another shooter,, as it has posted a teaser for what looks like a separate racing mode for the game.
The teaser only lasts for 30 seconds but depicts cars racing down dimly lit streets while occasionally shooting at one another, confirming vehicular combat akin to something like Twisted Metal. At first, we did assume that this was an entirely separate project, considering the genre shift and the teaser containing its own Midnight Ride logo.
However, the tweet is accompanied by a Deadrop hashtag and is labelled as Snapshot VII – snapshots being what Midnight Society calls its Deadrop gameplay previews. It makes more sense for the racing teaser to be a part of Deadrop, since it’d be far too risky for a new studio like Midnight Society to juggle two different projects at the same time.
Midnight Society has yet to officially clarify what Midnight Ride is but it is teasing a reveal on October 20, so there’ll likely be a proper explanation then.Nintendo Switch 2 will get the same games as PS5 and Xbox says insiderIf the two are one and the same, having a hybrid extraction shooter/vehicular combat game would certainly be ambitious and help Deadrop stand out amongst its contemporaries.
