'Double-whammy' tax hike warning as BBC finds council tax set to increase in many areas of England.

Families are facing a "double-whammy" of rising bills next year, as council tax across much of England is set to increase at the same time as National Insurance, according to BBC research.

Final decisions will be taken after councils get more detail about the funding they will receive from government, which is expected next week. What that means for household bills will differ from place to place, but the Institute for Fiscal Studies has calculated that a 2.8% rise would add an average of around £40 to household bills from next April.

Increase for social care goes to cover fat cats council management salaries and squandered contract services. Streets are still filthy.

What services exactly ? Not GPs or NHS …

Maybe councils should get rid of staff who are not doing their jobs properly or too slow because of mismanagement and miscommunication: that’ll save the taxpayers a lot in their council tax bills!!

Nandy spouting out. As usual not a single solution or policy from the Labour Party

Rising council tax to pay for all the idiotic schemes giving grants to various minority groups like the arts Ext or paying for schemes that don't work like bicycle lanes that hardly anyone uses causing traffic jams Waisting money on trips to see how some far of land does it

Here lies the result of your lockdowns, zealots. Own it?!

' increase is to help pay for health & soc care, but w the bulk of the money initially due to go to NHS, many council leaders have told BBC they will still face funding shortfalls Final decisions will be taken after councils get more detail about govt funding they will receive'

Why is this news, it happens every year now.

Mixed services. Some are good some are bad. National government should help out more.

A licence for local councils to print money, way too high, eye watering unjustified rises year on year. Police precept is ridiculous, council tax is an unfair tax.

My council tax goes up every year without fail. Please report it as news if it ever doesn't rise.

Yeb again Tax the people who earn more then the minimum wage. Council should look at themselves first and all the waste of money they do from statutory to over paid management

Ah, a deeper trough . . . .

Well people will vote Tory...11 yrs and they've wrecked this country. Time for change.
