Donald Trump is reportedly preparing to launch his own social networking app for his 2020 re-election campaign.
Seemingly not content with simply continuing to use Twitter as a platform for his unique form of diplomacy, the US president is said to be planning an alternative so that he can better connect with his supporters. According to Politico, the Trump campaign team will release a smartphone app later this year to encourage donations, recruit volunteers and allow people to sign up for rallies and election canvassing.The app will also give users"more unfiltered access" to what the Republican gets up to - and will even offer prizes to persuade his"most fervent supporters to recruit their friends".
Rewards will reportedly include VIP seats at a Make America Great Again rally, or even the opportunity of grabbing a selfie with the man himself.Citing people familiar with the app plans, Politico reports the 2020 Trump campaign is a"more professional and data-driven operation" than the one that secured his shock victory three years ago.
The campaign did launch an app called America First in 2016, but it was released just a few short weeks before election day and offered limited functionality.
