Djokovic, down 2-0, comes back to beat Djere at U.S. Open

By The Athletic StaffNovak Djokovic’s quest for a 24th Grand Slam title continues, but it wasn’t easy. The world No. 2 defeated No. 38 Laslo Djere in five sets in the third round of the U.S. Open, a match that ended early Saturday at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Here’s what you need to know:

Djokovic dropped the first two sets 4-6, 4-6 before winning the next two sets in dominant fashion, 6-1, 6-1. The three-time U.S. Open singles champion closed out the fifth set 6-3 to advance to the round of 16. Djere has two career singles titles but was playing in the third round at the U.S. Open for the first time in six tries.
