Derek McInnes reckons Marley Watkins has been a ray of sunshine at Rugby Park amid the soggy spring gloom hanging over it.
“Even aside from his goals, Marley has always had the ability to make the guys next to him better. A lot of players have benefited through their careers – getting moves and having good seasons – from playing alongside Marley Watkins. The Rugby Park men face St Johnstone at home in two days’ time, sitting fourth with a five-point lead over St Mirren. McInnes has players lining up to stay and he joked he can’t even get rid of them at times. The 52-year-old added: “I’m leaving here sometimes at half four or five o’clock and they’re still all in there. They have table tennis, a card school and a darts board.
