A DENGUE fever epidemic has seen cases spiral to 10,000 on a single island as experts scramble to contain the outbreak.

, has now caused 9,740 confirmed cases as of May 4. There have now also been two confirmed deaths and a further 289 hospitalizations from the virus on the small island. Such is the spread of the virus, it has now reached 21 of the 24 communes.In 2019 and 2020, 18,206 and 16,050 cases were reported respectively although those numbers could be exceeded this year.
