Scientists say that eating a diet rich in one specific nutrient can help to boost brain function, potentially cutting chances of developing dementia.

Taking one supplement each day could help to slash the chances of developing dementia later in life, according to new research.

Scientists believe that the focus is switching to the 'accelerated changes' that happen in the brain from around the forties, according to a report by the Times. A fibre supplement is another option, according to researchers at KCL. They recently reported in Nature Communications journal that a cheap, commercially available plant fibre supplement, inulin, which cost 15p a day, improved brain function in a group of people in their sixties.
