A drug dealer was busted after his ringing mobile phone led police to his stash. Amahni Maitland, 21, was stopped by officers in Radford after they spotted him taking part in what they thought might be drug-related activity.
They found him with cash, two mobile phones and a set of gloves. Then, they heard a phone ringing while searching an area near where they'd stopped him. It led them to a bag of cannabis behind a fenced car park. Maitland, of Ashwell Gardens, Hyson Green, was arrested.When his property was later searched, 110 wraps of heroin and crack cocaine were found, as well as a large amount of cannabis, mobile phones, cash and weighing scales. Maitland was charged with two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs - crack cocaine and heroin – and a further count of possession with intent to supply a Class B drug – cannabis.
He pleaded guilty to the three charges and was jailed for two and a half years at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, May 24. Sergeant Matt Daley, of Nottinghamshire Police’s knife crime team, said: “While out on our proactive patrols we look out for faces we know and look for behavioural indicators. Things like people who might be acting strangely or hanging around with individuals who are of interest to us."
