A deal to keep Raleigh in Nottinghamshire and retain jobs by building it a new factory is edging towards completion. The iconic bike manufacturer made dozens of staff redundant last year ahead of a move away from its "outdated and inflexible" base on Church Street, Eastwood to another location in the "Nottingham area". Now a deal which would result in a new factory being built near Eastwood is close to completion, Nottinghamshire Live understands.
Broxtowe Borough Council and Raleigh's parent company Accell Group have been in talks for the last few months to keep the firm in the county and protect jobs. The brand is set to move into a new temporary premises by June, where it will stay until its new long-term facility is finished. "We are optimistic that we can bring this to a conclusion and protect jobs in the area - which is exactly what our ambition in Broxtowe is to do," Councillor Milan Radulovic, leader of Broxtowe Borough Council, sai
