Darvel skipper 'bursting with pride' as club win first Scottish Junior Cup title

David Syme says he’s ‘bursting with pride’ after being the first Darvel skipper to lift the Scottish Junior Cup trophy.

“To be honest, I was emotional when the second goal went in and was looking into the crowd and seeing my family. I was nearly in tears because it’s a moment I’ve been thinking about my whole career. “We’ve had about 13 players for six months now and to produce two cup winning sides it’s absolutely tremendous. It’s fabulous and we’ve got an amazing team spirit.”

He said: “We weren’t great but big Andy Leishman has been in seven and says he’s not played in a good one yet but they do tend to be cagey and scrappy affairs.
