A day one arm around the shoulder from Daniel Farke proved pivotal for Daniel James in his successful return to Leeds United. The Wales international spent last season on an unsuccessful loan with Fulham and came back to Thorp Arch this summer with three years still to run on his contract.
Speaking to The Official Leeds United Podcast, James has lifted the lid on that opening day chat with the new manager following his late return to pre-season after international duty. Having been away for a year, the winger was very reassured by what he was told. “I came back a little bit later for pre-season because of internationals and he sat me down first day and told me what he wants from me this season and I was going to be a big part of the squad,” he said. “It was great to hear that from the start.
James is expected to start his 11th league match of the season when Plymouth Argyle visit Elland Road on Saturday. The former Swansea City man will then go away with Wales for Euro 2024 qualifiers with Armenia and Turkey.
