Dad with ‘kindest heart’ pictured after he was killed in Christmas Day stabbing, as man, 34, charged with murder

TRIBUTES have been paid to a "much-loved" dad believed to have been knifed to death on Christmas Day.

Cops confirmed a 34-year-old man has been charged with murder after Simon Birch sadly died from his injuries.Cops were called to an address in Newbottle,A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: "Emergency services attended and found 39-year-old Simon Birch of Sunderland with a serious injury consistent with having been caused by a bladed article.Tributes have since flooded in for the 39-year-old dad-of-two.their son was a "much-loved son, father, brother and uncle".

His daughters, Brogan, 18, and Georgie, 13, told the paper: "He had the biggest and kindest heart. He would always protect us, no matter what, and was always there if we ever needed anything.
