The dad of two baby boys murdered by Lucy Letby has told court how he begged doctors to move his third child to Liverpool Women's Hospital.
None of the babies in the case or their parents can be identified for legal reasons. The dad described in his statement how hospital staff had branded the pregnancy a "miracle", adding: "We were so excited at how well the boys were doing, it was almost impossible to tell them apart." "It was very distressing to watch his deterioration. I noticed the colour of his skin was changing rapidly.
"I remember pulling in all our heads together and saying 'we will get through this'. I felt helpless." "We pleaded with the doctor that they had to take with them to the Liverpool Women's Hospital, that he could not stay in this hospital and that he wasn’t safe there. All I could think about was getting him out of the Countess.The bereaved parent described how he was signed off work after being left feeling "emotionally drained", adding: "I did briefly return to work, but then the breakdowns happened.
