Pete Sharp was unable to have surgery for cancer as the intensive care bed he would need for recovery was being used to treat Covid-19 patients pandemic – a decision that left him ‘heartbroken’, his youngest daughter has said.
Pete did not have the virus himself, but was told his lung cancer had spread to his lymph nodes. When he was told the surgery booked in for March 30 had to be postponed, his condition ‘went downhill from there’, Tayler said.‘He felt like a ping pong ball because he was going from appointment to appointment,’ she told PA News. ‘Even though he had the hardest news he could have possibly had, he never showed that he was scared.
Pete Sharp, pictured with his children, died of lung cancer in April, three months after he was diagnosed Tayler said her dad was also experiencing heart and liver problems and would be happy he did not spend time in pain.‘A part of me is like, this was probably the best time for Dad and he would want to go being happy and the best that he can,’ she said.
