A dad left in agony after losing his leg is facing a three-year wait for surgery. Gareth Bryan , 44, from Stirling , has hit out at NHS waiting lists and said he has been left trapped in his home since suffering a blood clot in August 2021. The father-of-five was forced to have an amputation in his left limb the following year after the clot developed in his main artery shortly after he was diagnosed with covid.
Since then, he has been unable to work and to spend time with his youngest children - four-year-old twins - while his wife has to give her work to help care for the family, causing a huge financial burden. Gareth, who said he lives with "indescribable pain" told the Record: "This started with an almighty pain in my leg one day I had to drag myself home from the shops. I went back and forth to my GP for months but eventually the pain was so debilitating that I went to a private podiatrist. "They immediately sensed it was a vascular problem and I was urgently referred to hospital. A bypass was attempted to try and save my leg but it failed because too much time had passe
