Oliver Mailey, 28, of Bowness Road, Burnley, appeared at Blackburn Magistrates Court accused of murdering Abel-Jax Mailey after the infant died of head injuries. Abel-Jax was found unresponsive at a house on Piccadilly Road, Burnley, at 12.10pm on Sunday November 28, 2021.
He was taken to hospital and later transferred to Manchester Children's Hospital but died two days later. A Home Office post mortem examination was carried out and further tests confirmed the little boy died from a head injury.Oliver Mailey was charged with murder yesterday . Wearing a grey T-shirt, he spoke only to confirm his name and address and that he understood the charges. Magistrates committed the case to Preston Crown Court where Mailey will appear tomorrow .
A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "These are tragic circumstances and our thoughts remain with Abel-Jax's family at this sad and very difficult time. They continue to be supported by our officers." A woman who was previously arrested in connection with Abel-Jax's death has been released with no further action.
