Plans to allow more floating wind farm projects to be developed off Welsh coast described as 'significant and exciting'

Rhys Wyn Jones, director of Renewable UK Cymru, said it "paved the way for a burgeoning, commercial-scale floating wind industry in the Celtic Sea from which Wales stands to benefit not only in meeting our net zero obligations and our targets for producing renewable energy, but also economically as well".

He said there was a "huge amount of work" happening to develop a supply chain for floating wind and other marine technologies in Wales and the industry was "very excited [that] things are coming together". Huub den Rooijen, director of The Crown Estate's energy, minerals and infrastructure portfolio, said floating offshore wind was "the next frontier of the UK's clean energy ambitions, offering an exciting opportunity to deliver more green energy, in new areas".

He added the announcement was an "important step in providing the market the confidence it needs to plan and invest, bringing with it huge opportunities for jobs and the supply chain".

Can Wales also supply the steel, manufacture the units and secure a levy that goes back to the nation?

Oh my Christ .... more floating lights out at sea. UFO crazy here !

Not as “significant and exciting” as a tidal development.. An island with some good tidal ranges and we wait for the wind to blow..

Mustard gas among toxic waste in Wales' old landfill sitesEnvironmental campaigners dub the 1,572 locations across Wales 'ticking time bombs'. 'Mustard gas, other warfare chemicals' of course, MoD wouldn't dump stuff like this on their own doorstep... There was a time we burned our rubbish to produce electricity, and we recycled as the daily norm, but greedy so called 'green' companies scam money from our governments in so called 'green' technology that cost more then the energy that is actually produced. And guess who pays? Governments should be clamping down on the amount of wrappings & packaging we have to take home from shopping, it's a joke, and Amazon who use boxes and packaging that out ways the cost of an item some times. and as for recycling that's the biggest joke going.
