A criminal investigation into a horror crash following which a 16-year-old boy from Tameside died is ongoing, an inquest opening has been told. McKenna Leigh, 16, died following a motorbike crash in Audenshaw last month.
Today an inquest into his death was formally opened at South Manchester Coroner's Court in Stockport. McKenna lived in Denton and was an apprentice joiner, the hearing was told.Senior Coroner for South Manchester, Alison Mutch, saId a Home Office post-mortem had concluded his cause of death was chest and abdominal injuries. They were sustained in a road traffic collision "currently the subject of an investigation" by Greater Manchester Police , she said.
Tributes for McKenna flooded in following his death. One pal, Ella Mccabe, said: "Honestly he was the most loving boy in the world there was never a time when he didn’t have a smile on his face. He would always have that annoying attitude but we all loved it." "He was known for being and doing things that could cheer people up and that's why everyone loved him. The amount of people that will miss his laugh or his smile is unbelievable.
