The new study will involve as many as 32,000 lateral flow tests each week, and run from November 2023 to March 2024.

Health experts are launching a new study to check the levels of coronavirus across the UK this winter. The new study is a smaller version of the Covid infection survey that was the best way of monitoring the virus throughout lockdown.

The study is being co-ordinated by the Office for National Statistics and the UK Health Security Agency , which oversaw the original survey together with Oxford University, reports StokeonTrentLive. Covid has been rising since July but it seems that in the last few weeks it has stabilised and is still below the levels reached last winter. Across the UK, the latest Covid-19 booster vaccine is currently being rolled out across the UK, with millions of people due to be offered the jab, including everyone aged 65 and over.
