Mass testing for secondary schools in parts of London, Kent and Essex

Mr Hancock said both PCR and lateral flow testing - which takes about half an hour to show a result - would be used.

Kent is in tier three, the highest level, in which you can only meet other households in outdoor public spaces such as parks, where the rule of six applies.Mr Hancock also told the briefing it was important not to "blow" the progress made so far in controlling coronavirus and urged everyone to "stay on our guard now and through Christmas".

GP-led sites will begin vaccinations next week, Mr Hancock said, with jabs administered in some care homes by Christmas.

Blended learning is a compromise between learning and safety. This will support young people with preparing them for College and/or University. In my region Collages use Blackboard and University uses My Dundee. Blended learning is the best of both worlds.

So if I'm a student in London and I get mass tested today (Friday) my results come back for example next Tuesday negative and then I head to mall on Wednesday where I catch Covid..what's the purpose of this mass testing 🤔

Where is the mass testing for the North East which was promised? EmmaLewellBuck UKLabour

North East still waiting...

So annoying when up north we get threatened with fines for not sending our children to schools with teachers isolating bubbles bursting and whole year groups being sent home yet a whiff of this happening in SE they whip out the mass testing to sort this

what about the north

Is this acton too late.. as schools beak up within next week🤷🏻‍♂️ how long to get results of test🤷🏻‍♂️ yet another delayed fuck up

It is imperative that those testing negative do not change their behaviour or drop their guard. Mass testing will fail if they do. This message should be given to every student. Testing should be twice a week until numbers fall significantly.

at 12 go on line get a 4 yr degree in 18 months

testing in a high positive area? 'You have been tested positive'; 'Yes I know I was tested positive last week'; 'Well isolate then'; 'I am isolating'; good. They already know as high number of cases; maybe its too simple to understand.

Joke. They are in Tier 2.

And children we’re safe, um who said that, was it whitless witty blustering Boris or another useless Tory

Where was the targeted action in secondary schools in Manchester MattHancock?

So they can sufficiently get the numbers up to justify lockdown?

STOP TESTING HEALTHY PEOPLE

South v North and the North is always second. Why haven't Northern schools been tested before now? Northern MPs need to hold this Govt to account and fight for equal treatment for their constituents JasonMcCartney BarrySheerman

So not pubs and restaurants after all then?

Where’ve the government been? Where were they when cases were skyrocketing in schools in the north and in the midlands? and where was the BBC, Sky and other media outlets. Media silence

The government has refused to accept all along that these are not children. These young adults are who work hard and have young adult social outlook to their free time. Tests should have been started at the return to school, as with universities too little, too late.

So after continually saying school age children weren’t getting/spreading COVID-19, the Government finally admits that the biggest hike in infections is children of school age 11-18. Schools still open ( except in Wales, sensibly doing remote learning) so mass testing instead 🤬

My heart goes out to all those living up North, who have been enduring Tier 3 & local lockdowns for months now. However, please remember Liverpool was the first place to benefit from mass testing. Also, Kent is currently in Tier 3. Nowhere is more Southern or Tory than Kent!

Keep the schools open- spread the disease. Ridiculous.

Schools spreading thr virus.... really? Well I never, who would’ve thought it. Packed pubs, beaches and shops for three months without an issue. Three weeks after the schools opened, all hell breaks loose. Are you sure it’s the schools?

So it doesn’t matter about all the other Tier 3 regions - it’s a joke

Why didn't they do that in other parts of the country when numbers were high?Because they will do their best to keep London out of tier 3.Which it should already be in it, with the joint highest numbers per 100,000.Double standards at its finest from this corrupt goverment again.

Panic time for Hancock as London and South East need to go to Tier 3 NOW! To save lives and stop hospitals collapsing under the weight of new ICU cases.

Can they just hurry up and admit how much they hate the North?

If London has the highest rate why are they not in tier 3. They were quick to put the North in tier 3. I live in the south east and cannot understand why London is so special they seem to count the numbers in each borough and so have escaped stricter measures. Nonsense

'Mr Hancock said the government was 'particularly concerned' about coronavirus cases in 'London, Kent and Essex' but MattHancock isn't concerned with the north?

Good to see it becomes a national issue when it affects the south east. Nice to know that BorisJohnson cares about them but where is the northern love. Good to see the Conservatives value the northern power house northernpowerhouse northsouthdivide

So hands up anyone in the North who still believes this levelling up bollocks

Get these tories out. Their priorities are that shithole London and sod the rest

I've also got a feeling they will wrangle putting London & SE In tier 3 somehow, and this mass testing is an absolute disgrace how dare they decide that southern lives matter more than those in the North.

Havent mass tested Tier 3 Midlands but precious London and the South East has to be special, eh, MattHancock

Let me guess why it's those areas?

Close all schools from Monday

This is completely outrageous. What about the millions of us working in schools in the North who have to cope with covid for the last few months? Another example of the disgraceful way this Government treats the North. More levelling down.BorisHasFailedTheNation LiarJohnson

Whats so special about living down south compared to the north

Just refuse any test

Didn't do that for the north west, this will be interesting if they get a vaccine for the younger ppl even though they've had mass protests.

Because fuck all the places in the north of england in tier 3.

What about us up north stuck in tier 3 no mass testing for our children,do they not count? No north south devide though is there?

Nice if you can get it! Roll out mass testing you said, another failure. Look after yourselves as usual. tories

They might have a problem with this given many Essex schools seem to be closing/moving to on-line from Friday?
