Three out of four paramedics say they are at 'breaking point' as they describe how patients are dying while waiting for ambulances, a new study suggests

Three out of four paramedics say they are at"breaking point" as they describe how patients are dying while waiting for ambulances, a new study suggests.patients has left staff suffering low morale and many believe the crisis is much worse than the first peak in March, according to a study by the GMB union.

Almost two out of three of the 2,000 ambulance staff surveyed said they should have better PPE, with some saying the situation was"very scary".Ambulance delays 'at a scale we've never seen' "In 24 years in the ambulance service I've never ever seen staff sat on station at the start of the shift so frightened to go out on an ambulance," one response said.

Others described how they were"overwhelmed" as"calls waiting are in their hundreds for hours on end with little or no resources to send"."People are dying waiting for ambulances whilst crews are stuck at hospital with COVID-confirmed patients," said another respondent. In one particularly distressing experience, a paramedic said they had seen a taxi pull up in an ambulance bay with a dead man inside as his wife was shouting for help.

OcoRory This not only highlights the emotional trauma and stress faced by ambulance crews, but also exposes them to the risk of catching the infection themselves. The PPE guidance also needs urgent review. ParamedicsUK Jojo_research SashaJohnston_ ParamedProf

A lot of people are starting to catch on. It's about time...........

The NHS are overstretched every year & are generally always towing the line anyway. It was inevitable a pandemic was going to tip it over. I would say if patients are dying because there are no ambulances then it has gone past breaking point...it’s already broken.

Terribly sad. Thank you all for the incredibly difficult job you do.

I bet the day goes quickly

The nhs needs more beds, better management&more trained staff. This has been an issue for yrs&staff absence/covid protocols is pushing the already failing system to its limits

How is China going to pay for the harm they have done?

And the Government are just sitting on their hands waiting. They are pushing the focus on the vaccine roll out. Right now they MUST be doing more to save every single life. Treat every life as its one of their family not just a number!

I always remember this from Boxing Day. As we can see by all the parked ambulances with nobody in them it was really overwhelmed.

🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥

Need proof not a picture.

No surprise. The NHS has been at breaking point for years

I have called for an ambulance twice in the last four weeks. Once for my father and once for a patient who was poorly in my clinic. Both times I’ve been told that they are incredibly busy and it could take a couple of hours. Both times the ambulances arrived in under 15 mins!

Must be hard keeping up this totally untruthful narrative.

Banged out this study quick.

People who flouted the simple instructions over Christmas should all be ashamed putting these valuable people through this. They disgust me for pushing the regulations. Thankfully the government have a plan that's vaccinating ASAP.

Ok

What did you expect when you signed up to be an ambulance driver?

But according to people on Twitter who don’t work in hospitals they aren’t even busy! So this can’t be true.

Keep helping God will bless you

More lies and hysteria.
