'While you may have come from a green country, you may be stood for hours near somebody who has come from a red country.' Lib Dem MP LaylaMoran says the government should 'discourage' people from taking a foreign holiday this year. Read more:

The Department for Transport said the lists will be made public in"early May".

Lib Dem MP Layla Moran, who chairs the APPG, said:"It is staggering that the government is even contemplating encouraging overseas holidays when airports are already struggling to keep the virus and new variants at bay. "Urgent measures are needed to better detect fake COVID test certificates, reduce overcrowding in arrival halls and separate those arriving from red and amber list countries. But Paul Charles, chief executive of travel consultancy The PC Agency, claimed the"best financial support the government can now offer the travel sector is to open up overseas travel as planned from 17 May".

He went on:"Not only can this be done safely with widespread testing, but it would also unlock much-needed revenues from business and leisure travellers keen to see family they haven't seen for a year. "Better digital technology would certainly enable more seamless travel through our borders and I'd urge the government to invest in this more quickly so as to avoid airport queues in future."

LaylaMoran 1/3it was ridiculous. My partner came from Brazil with conection flight in France. At Heathrow he stood shoulder by shoulder for 4 hours in a queue without going to the loo just to cross the Border Control(only 2 people to check papers). Then he stand for 2 hours in another queue

LaylaMoran She out of the frying pan into the fire! 👅😋

AppgCoronavirus LaylaMoran Me and my wife are fully vaccinated and my in-laws in Denmark are fully vaccinated yet we can’t travel to see them utter tosh what’s the point of vaccination

LaylaMoran We live in a society based upon rule of law, so either you're allowed to travel somewhere or you aren't. I don't agree that travellers should be having to morally justify their reason for travel if they are legally allowed to travel there regardless.

LaylaMoran You could also be sat next to someone on a plane (for however long) travelling from or in transit via a ‘red country’ but for those that concerned, maybe now isn’t the right time to be travelling. In the meantime, stay at home and let the rest of us get on with our lives.

LaylaMoran The surname says it all

LaylaMoran This coming from a women who has been wholly over-exposed on our TV screens, enjoying the best year of her life in front of her bookcase. Safely ignored.

LaylaMoran Then sort out the inbound process at UK Airports!!!!! Only had a year to do it! T4 at Heathrow could be for Red Zone arrivals only.... it’s not rocket science.

LaylaMoran This whole 'just a few more weeks/months' thing is getting tiresome now.

LaylaMoran Another good reason not to vote Green.....god this woman irritates the hell out of me & lm normally rational & Pragmatic!

LaylaMoran Lib Dem who?

LaylaMoran Another paranoid statement without any scientific evidence. People like her would have you locked down for fear of a cold. There comes a point where no different to flu. It’s not just one summer it’s 2 and she’d make it more. Liberals at work !!

LaylaMoran On every single opinion I wholeheartedly disagree with this Woman. Complete oddball

LaylaMoran Heard you on the radio. No evidence based information, just assumption and fear. You stay home then. We're off to any land of flip flops and heat.

LaylaMoran What about attacking there boyfriend
