The JCVI has recommended vulnerable children aged five to 11 be offered a new paediatric formulation of the COVID vaccine. Its deputy chairman Professor Anthony Harnden explains why the 'benefit' of vaccinating this group 'outweighs the risk'.

The JCVI's chair of COVID-19 immunisation, Wei Shen Lim, said:"The majority of children aged five to 11 are at very low risk of serious illness due to COVID-19.

NHS Wales will begin identifying eligible children in the new year, the country's health minister has said. The JCVI has also recommended that booster jabs be offered to 16- and 17-year-olds as well as to people aged 12 to 15 who are in a clinical risk group; or who are a household contact of someone who is immunosuppressed; or who are severely immunocompromised and who have had a third primary dose.

The approval was given for the lower-dose formulation that was specifically designed for younger children.Dr June Raine, the agency's chief executive, said:"Parents and carers can be reassured that no new vaccine for children would have been approved unless the expected standards of safety, quality and effectiveness have been met.

Baker Issues Indoor Mask Advisory, Activates National Guard Amid COVID-19 SurgeGov. Charlie Baker will announce Tuesday he is activating up to 500 members of the National Guard to assist hospitals with the COVID-19 surge and updating the state’s mask advisory to recommend that everyone wear a mask or face covering in indoor public spaces. The state Department of Public Health released an updated mask advisory Tuesday urging all individuals, regardless… Maybe don't fire healthcare workers during a pandemic. This is a clown show. You create a problem by mandating EUA vaccines and then let critical health care workers go who don’t get the vax only to bring in national guard workers when you have a shortage? And cloth and surgical masks don’t work. Show me the RCT?!?!?
