County Tyrone man, 33, jailed for sexual assault on 14-year-old girl

A man who sexually assaulted a teenage girl at her County Londonderry home has been jailed for 14 months.

Emmet James Potter, 33, of Camlough Road in Pomeroy, County Tyrone, admitted to one count of sexual assault that occurred on 27 December 2018. The court heard that the 14-year-old was in her bedroom at her family home when she saw Potter enter her room.Londonderry Crown Court, sitting in Coleraine, heard that the defendant was told to leave by the mother and he did so, but returned a short time later to offer the victim money.The next day neighbours told the victim's mother that a man, who she later identified as Potter, had tried to enter two other houses that previous night.

Why are sentences so low for sexual assault/rape crimes? Does the know why? A teenage girl in her own home should never have to experience something so awful. How would this sentence act as a deterrent?

Now we all know that Naomi long campaigns for crime’s against women rigorously but when it comes to these pathetic sentences she has Fcuk all to say about them,WHY Naomi? Why would you not be screaming from the rooftops over this injustice for victims.

14 months for being a pedo?

Yet another incredibly weak sentence for an exceptionally serious offence. Sentencing guidelines are a disgrace!
