Counsellor 'inundated' with bullied kids crying for help pens letter to Sturgeon

A Scots counsellor who is 'inundated' with bullied children crying out for help has written an open letter to Nicola Sturgeon begging for action to be taken on youth violence.

In recent months, the Daily Record has reported on a shocking series of incidents of youth violence across Scotland. Ms Gilluley described our reports as "sickening" and says they demonstrate a widespread issue with youth violence throughout Scotland. She says the time for action is now. Describing the problem as an "epidemic", Ms Gilluley's letter to Sturgeon reads: "Bullies from schools are escalating into communities, intimidating children and preventing them from feeling safe outside - causing trauma, depression, anxiety, fear and suicide.

"These voices need to be heard now, when action is needed the most. I am a professional working on the forefront of protecting children and I am still not being listened to. This needs to change." And only last month, after the Daily Record was sent numerous videos of horrific beatings and assaults, we investigated the sickening trend of violent online videos sweeping through Scotland for "likes and popularity". Parents warned the online uptake of violent videos being posted on social media was to boost online social statuses.

NicolaSturgeon No real punishements. Primary kid punched and broke kids nose. No remorse, said would do it again. Punishment - 1 day off school and some time in the heads office and during break she was allowed friend into heads office as well. Kid bragged about getting home early on socials.
