'We are going to see quite a big bill for the taxpayer or huge cuts to public services, but realistically it will be both,' said Meg_HillierMP

Councils will be forced to make “huge cuts” to frontline services to fill a £6bn hole created by Covid-19 and risky commercial investments turning sour, local leaders and the head of Parliament’s public finances watchdog have warned.

Meg_HillierMP The centralised approach to Covid totally exposed how local councils are actually better able to cope in such a crisis but couldn't step up because they weren't allowed & didn't have the funds. Not getting the money now & taking more cuts is totally unacceptable.

Meg_HillierMP Any chance we can see a reduction in the salaries of council management employees (huge numbers earn over 100k) Plus the ending of the (too expensive for the private sector) final salary pension schemes. Maybe that will help? Too obvious

Meg_HillierMP We're all tax payers. Good example VAT
