As always, the Greek Orthodox patriarch circled the tomb, then entered and emerged with candles said to have been lit by a heavenly flame.
Usually, at this point, a big roar goes up from the crowd in the church and the fire is passed from candle to candle, to be taken to far-flung Orthodox Christian communities. This year, special arrangements were made with the Israeli authorities allowing planes to collect the flame from Ben Gurion airport - on the condition that nobody onboard disembarked to avoid breaking quarantine rules.

ONS data on weekly deaths is more accurate, but there is a delay of a couple weeks before it comes out. It shows the number of deaths has increased dramatically. (Normal weekly death rate is about 10,000, but higher in winter.)

So that awful figure of 888 is actually people who died in the last 24 hours. Are you sure, because I recall the CMO saying weeks ago that figure would be the rise in the total number of deaths and would include deaths occurring during the previous few days but just reported.

When all the 'uncounted' from care homes, the community and in hospital (but without Covid 19 specifically mentioned on the death certificate) are included are we now at 20,000 deaths? Then there are people with 'ordinary' deaths who could not get treatment and died.
And what about those dying in care homes and at home? Are they included? Why are there so deaths in comparison to South Korea?

And still some non essential jobs are allowed I.e construction workers .Where Spain and Italy did shut down the construction industry and we are going to fly past them death rate wise .
Still very high numbers of daily deaths and low numbers of tests. At some point, even the strongest supporters of Johnson's government will have to accept the fact that it failed miserably.
