The Tokyo Marathon takes place against a backdrop of empty streets and with just a couple of hundred runners due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Birhanu Legese ran through the winning ribbon, held by volunteers wearing face masks

Organisers had reduced the entries to just elite runners and wheelchair athletes with the mass race, which usually attracts around 38,000 runners, "There are maybe 20% of the number of people who came to see the race last year. Normally, it's so packed you can barely breathe."

72k stealth spectators filled empty streets of Tokyo...🤥

At least it went ahead, I bet it's relayed via TV for those who want to watch it. Well I hope so.

The number of the audience is less than 20% compared to the last year but still, it's 72,000 people even though the committee asked not to come.

So... That picture isn't from the Tokyo marathon then.. Guess we needed it in order to know hot it looks when a marathon runner passes the goal line.

So people in a wheelchair can't get the virus? Discrimination

This is a lie All you need to do is go on Youtube and type in tokyo marathon 2020. There is loads of spectators.

Sparsely populated, yes. Empty, no.

💰💰💰💰💰

As opposed to streets with cars and pedestrians all over the shop?

Yes. That picture literally shows nobody

I wouldn't visit the country for nothing
