The Irish prime minister Leo Varadkar has re-registered as a doctor with the country's health service and will work one shift a week to assist during the coronavirus outbreak

Following the outbreak in Ireland the taoiseach rejoined the medical register, which he was removed from in 2013.

Mr Varadkar offered his services to Ireland's Health Service Executive for"one session a week in areas that are within his scope of practice", according to his office."Many of his family and friends are working in the health service. He wanted to help out even in a small way," the spokesman added. It follows Ireland's health minister Simon Harris launching a recruitment drive for the country's health service, which like many others is struggling to handle the outbreak.

Lads, can you not learn to spell 'Taoiseach'? That's the least you owe us. We could start calling Queen Elizabeth 'The English President' and Boris Johnson 'The English Taoiseach' in our media, but we're actually decent respectful human beings.

Hes still a wanker

mes200000 Makes ford driving his pickup truck look a bit... Useless, right?

lewis_goodall Brilliant...

Can you imagine realDonaldTrump working even one shift a week as President ?

This is awesome! 💜💜💜🐻🐝To LeoVaradkar!

Caretaker Chieftain (Taoiseach) of Ireland failed as Minister of Health, the health system under his leadership was in crisis way before Covid19 hit, machines not working, I know ppl who died waiting years for an appointment. Cervical scandal deaths under Fine Gael govt.

What an amazing man

remain_eu It's called leadership something Drump and Bojo dont get.

Hey its Leo the SPIN DOCTOR manning the phones today. SPIN SPIN SPIN

👏🏻

mattprescott I hope he is careful .

This is leadership

Good on him disagree with him politically but nothing but respect for him on this. People should be more respectful of polictal opponents with corona or people who are helping at times like this. The abuse towards Boris by remainers and labour voters is vile and disturbing.

angie79crowley this is so good

👏👏👏

lewis_goodall LeoVaradkar My estimation of you has suddenly gone way up. 👍😊🙏

Fair play... lead by example... not afraid to muck in...

Sanctions should not impede coronavirus fight, EU diplomat saysSanctions should not impede coronavirus fight, EU diplomat says | Coronavirus outbreak | The Guardian Imagine if this were the other way around and a Muslim country was preventing France, England, or America from getting needed supplies. It would be an act of war. Media always loves to speak of the Barbarism of the East, but coats this blatant injustice in political talk. It's simply the humane thing to do and should be the easiest of decisions at this juncture, but pettiness is too rampant. Global pandemic. Humantarian and medical aids should nt be hampered by sanctions.
