Michael Gove defends the PM as an investigation claims the government missed chances to lessen the impact of COVID-19.

Mr Gove said Mr Johnson was"recovering well" after his time in intensive care with COVID-19 and was in"cheerful spirits".

Government whistleblowers, scientists and emergency planners alleged there was a complacency at the heart of government in late January and February when it should have been urgently replenishing stockpiles.Asked specifically what was incorrect in The Sunday Times report, he said:"I won't go through here a point-by-point rebuttal of all the things in The Sunday Times story that are a little bit off-beam, but that will be done later.

"The prime minister has been at the helm of the response to this, providing leadership during this hugely challenging period for the whole nation."But Labour's Jonathan Ashworth labelled Mr Gove's"off-beam" response"possibly the weakest rebuttal of a detailed expose in British political history".

BorisJohnson Defending the indefensible

BorisJohnson Don't believe you.......... or Bumbling Boris

BorisJohnson The question is who sat in his place, and why did he/she highlight to the PM the dangers.. They had five meetings... Did they not realise the severity of this?

BorisJohnson more loony left political football from the usual suspects

BorisJohnson Almost as grotesque as matt hancock saying he wished he had a magic wand and ppe fall from the sky

BorisJohnson So please publish some facts? Why do we always go negative.

BorisJohnson “A senior minister” eh? *Who*? Elliott? Cummings? Larry? Come on Sky... get your piss-poor act together.

BorisJohnson So he went then? No? Well, yes it is grotesque

BorisJohnson Grotesque indeed. Sadly, it -- and obviously so -- has the small virtue of being true.

BorisJohnson Boris nearly die, show some respect guys. It's grotesque actually.

BorisJohnson But he misses everything! Even the obvious when every other country in the world get it. Hence 🇬🇧 has the highest rate of death per million in the world. And twice the warming. All criticism justified. If he cared. He would resign

BorisJohnson Almost as grotesque as catching ‘the thing’ that he initially belittled over 2 months ago 😂

Naughty naughty

MSM including Sky News are at it again. Cannot help themselves by continuously undermining the government. Utter disgrace.

He either was there or he wasn’t. And he wasn’t.

All the SKYNEWS interested in is running the Government down to the ground, and NOT helping to fight the virus. They the ones NOT doing this country any good, just doing. More harm. And most 99.9 of the British Public knows this. SO STOP HAVING AGO AT THE GOVERNMENT AND HELP.

So the Secretary if State was there? If so then it's the usual nonsense Tory bashing

But he did

It's grotesque that this government has allowed so many to die and pretend they now have 💙 for the NHS

Hold on! Can he be in 2 places at once? Doesn’t he also have other pressing things to do? Well why are you complaining? let him do a job, he’s not fucking superman, and I never voted for him

Most covid 19 victims skipped the rest of their lives. Who are the sickos saying this

Sky News ought to be held responsible for causing mass hysteria with the fake news on the Governments handling of the Covid19 outbreak!

BorisOut

He didn't?

The press shouldn't be distracting from an ongoing national emergency but then again Gove reminding us that Boris suffered from the virus himself and so should be excluded from any criticism is deplorable.

Grotesque isn't the same as denial. Negligent is.

Coronavirus: Councils in England given an extra £1.6bn to tackle COVID-19 crisisRobert Jenrick says £2.6bn in business rate payments to central government will also be deferred. Why is this breaking news? On Gov UK website. On 19 March 2020, the government announced £1.6 billion of additional funding for local government to help them respond to coronavirus (COVID-19) pressures across all the services they deliver. This after it has cut councils budgets by 16 billion since 2010 . Social care is funded by local authorities and other voluntary agencies . It also has total impact on the health services if under funded . There is also pooled budgets between social care and health For what exactly!? NHSuk needs all the funding they can get rather than councils who aren’t helping with the cause. What a waste of Taxpayers money.
