Conned out of my life savings, then 'failed' by police

Elderly, often vulnerable, people were targeted, sometimes over the course of many years.

Official-looking websites, glossy brochures, lunch meetings and, crucially, seemingly genuine certificates promising good returns all helped legitimise the con. "They use tactics to socially engineer their victims, they know what to say, they know how to approach people. But when Cynthia finally told her daughter about the scale of the fraud and what had happened to her, Rachel was stunned.

"Fraud is not being investigated. I doubt if 1% of fraud is ever brought to a conclusion in the courts. Mr Stansfeld says police are not being given enough resources to properly tackle the problem and suggests money from fines issued by the Financial Conduct Authority, sometimes hundreds of millions of pounds each year, should be spent doing just that.

conned by a diamond seller cold calling mmmmmmm i think you failed yourself

Sad. But she only has herself to blame.

How stupid can people be?

TRUST NO ONE THE POLICE, THE GOVERNMENT, I THINK THEY HAVE ALL GOT SHARES IN FRAUSTERS, JUST LOOK AT THE BANKS NO ARRESTS AND ALLOWED TO KEEP SOME OF THERE FRAUDULENT MONEY, THE POLICE TOO BUSY HUNTING DOWN POOR PEOPLE WHO CANT AFFORD COUNCIL TAX, THEN MAKING THEM HOMELESS!

She handed over £400k!!!! To some guy that cold called her And I’m supposed to be sympathetic

The only people who lose money, then get it back - with huge bonuses - even when it's their own fault, are the bankers. And nobody calls the police.

DivaLaci ScamGoddessPod !!

Conned our of our country and then failed by the police!! Release the Russian investigation

'If it seems too good to be true, it probably is' is the reason most people fall for these fraudulent deals.

Greed!

There’s apparently a serious shortage of Investigators worldwide ... in regards to those kinds of issues! Australia very much has the same problem as well as other countries! Just thought you should know! Good luck

Oh you mean like Farage did to Brexit Party Ltd supporters? Promising party will run, asking for donations and then pulling out but keeping the money? 😂😂😂😂

Gullible beings are still around and playing victim-card.

Outrage as Corbyn fails to properly bow in respect to war dead at Remembrance ceremonyJEREMY CORBYN’S appearance at the annual Remembrance Sunday service in Whitehall has caused a Twitter row to erupt as people clashed over whether the Labour leader bowed his head low enough to honour the war dead at the cenotaph. I can’t stand Corbyn or any of the things he stands for. But going after him over this, the lack of effort involved in a head bow? Come on, please! If he hadn’t showed up for instance, but this? Its an insult that he should even be there in the first place. This man spits in the face of service men and women, while defending terrorists. Id love to rip that poppy off him and stick it in his beady little rodent eye
