Commuters have called on transport bosses for more Metrolink services after they say single carriage trams are 'packed to the rafters' at weekends.
READ MORE: Hundreds of patients still waiting for help even after ambulance service's desperate plea As a frequent tram user, Edward said single carriage services are 'always packed to the rafters', and asked how councils can encourage people to use public transport when overcrowding is so common. TfGM’s Head of Metrolink, Danny Vaughan, said the service had been coping with 'steady increases in patronage' and admitted there had been some delays. However, he insisted TfGM ran 'more services across the weekend' than on previous Saturdays and Sundays.
I dread having to use the tram it's a free for all at certain times
Most are mobile dustbins
And you wonder why people shy away...
MCRMetrolink is a very good and efficient service in overall terms. If you are going to attack public transport in the north, the tram should be at the bottom of your list
Tram overcrowding is largely down to the fact people see them as more reliable than trains/buses. If parts of south Manchester like east Didsbury has a more frequent & reliable train service it would relieve that line significantly.
Don't mind full and standing. At least then the scum can't act up. Last tram to Bury last weds which is so early I had to leave a gig b4 thr end to catch it and there's no security, people smoking and generally feeling unsafe. At least Sheffield tram has conductors
All metrolink trams are a minimum two carriage units.
Where do you want them to get more trams from if they are already out on the network they can't magic them from thin air
😡
Plenty of room on that tram.
