Comic Relief loses £8m in wake of row over 'white saviour' celebs

RED Nose Day has seen an £8million funding slump after the row over "white saviour" celebs, it has emerged.

Comic Relief has raised £63million this year - down from more than £71million at this stage last time around.The collapse in funding came after Labour MP David LammyBy the end of Friday night's Red Nose Day showcase, takings were down £8million on the equivalent stage in 2017., Mr Lammy hit out at Ms Dooley as she posted a picture of herself while filming in Uganda.

Nothing to do with austerity, increasing poverty in the UK, people losing their jobs, financial uncertainty, Brexit, the number of charities who are required to deal with poverty issues, the rise of Stand Up To Cancer etc etc then?

More than 1.3 billion has been raised since 1985 and as far as I can see every year nothing has changed

Hope Lammy is suitably satisfied with the results of his 'white Saviour' racist insults, it's cost the Comic Relief charity AT LEAST £10 million pounds, doubt if he will be well received in Africa in the future.

I found the “white saviour” title racist, dogs trust got my donation.

The money should go to the homeless in the UK.

Sure it was because of that ? Or was it because the show was poor and people were switching channels?

We have donated billions over the decades and nothing appears to have changed in Africa, and they still have all the same issues and problems, which is the reason why I don’t donate.

£63m is still a lot of money and the generosity of the British people to help people in need should be something we continue to be proud of, despite Lammy.

They lost it because people are fed up of giving all this money and seeing that the only people who are actually benefiting from it are the management within said charity. Been giving money to Africa etc since the 80's...nothing much has changed.
