A UK study says record-breaking temperatures in NW India and Pakistan are now 100 times more likely.

The extreme pre-monsoon heatwave the region has suffered in recent weeks eased a little after peak temperatures reached 51C in Pakistan on Saturday.

It says maximum temperatures are likely to reach 50C in some spots, with continued very high overnight temperatures. "However, our study shows that climate change is driving the heat intensity of these spells making record-breaking temperatures 100 times more likely."The new study is based on the heatwave that gripped northwest India and Pakistan in April and May 2010 when the region experienced the highest combined April and May average temperature since 1900.

The scenarios are run through 14 different computer models and produce dozens of different simulations which are compared to work out how climate change has altered the probability of an event happening.

The sun shines hot everywhere I roam Tiz summer and the skies are never gray The corn tops shrivel as the meadows turn brown While the pig's dry mud puddle blows away Weep more my lady weep some more and moan We will sing one song for the polar bear's home That's melting away.

I'm off out to buy a heat pump and electric car , that'll help.😝

And in other news - bears in India and Pakistan tend to shit in woods

Who contributes more to global warming?

😭

So sad news for our future human life.

Sure, the India energy minister will find a solution to the heat waves. He had recently gone round the world, scolding other nations who wanted India to burn less coal. Keep burning the coal chap. Soon the whole of northern India will have to decamp to the Himalayas

All because India subsidizes coal and other fossil fuels
