Chris Sutton has savaged referee Don Robertson after the late cancellation of Rangers’ game at Dundee.
Sutton says that is inexcusable and blasted: “It’s a complete embarrassment. Don says it was an easy decision. So why on earth could it not have been made earlier? The amateur referee at 9.15am had a look and had concerns. Then they had to wait for Don and he rocks up about an hour later. Don, or any match referee, should be at a stadium at least three hours before kick-off.
“Whoever is responsible, it is a joke. It makes the league come across as Mickey Mouse. I think Rangers were even there before the referee. Philippe Clement was on the pitch before. You can’t help the weather, but my biggest gripe in all of this is the timing. It’s not acceptable.” Sutton says the point is a simple one in the fact a number of supporters could have been saved setting out on a trip to Dens Park had the call come earlier. He explained: “Supporters travelling from south of the border are taking a gamble because anything can happen overnight. That’s unavoidable.
