A Nottinghamshire chippy, which customers say is 10/10, has been named in the 2024 list of Fry Magazine’s 50 Best Fish & Chip Takeaways. The list was drawn up after months of mystery dining where judges visited the chip shops unannounced.
Chip shops up and down the country have made it into the top 50 including Angells Fisheries, in Barnby Gate, Newark. It is the town's oldest chippy, dating back to 1905.Current owners Sophie and Steven Angell took over the shop in 2021 and then renovated and relaunched the business in 2022. Since then it has gone on to win a string of awards - as well as high praise from customers.
