China heatwave: Temperatures of 40C expected this weekend

In some provinces, authorities are predicting levels to rise to at least 40C and the national government has warned that forest fires could occur.In Zhejiang, in the south-east, some cities are issuing red alerts, the highest warning. To deal with the hot spells many in China turn to air conditioning in their homes, offices and factories however it could cause trouble for the national power grid.

Should be on BBCWorld since this isa U.K. based news. 🙄 Anyway, I’m pretty sure China will deal with their heatwave in a MUCH better way than we in U.K. did, with nothing “breaking down” or “overwhelmed” in their infrastructure. 40° or 8” snow grinds us to a halt, not Chinese.

I wish it would come back to the UK. Two days where morons panicked about some decent summer sunshine & now the UK is back to depressing grey skies & freezing temperatures.

This is pretty normal for this area of China in Summer. High 30's, high humidity. Lots of air con required. I think factories are supposed to stop work at 42oC, so expect temps to top out at 41oC
