Protesters gathered outside a UK prison to call for an end to the imprisonment of pregnant women and new mothers.
The demonstration on Saturday was set up like a child's birthday party - with picnic rugs, a musician playing the guitar, children dancing and people singing nursery rhymes.
If you don’t want to go to prison while pregnant or when you’ve given birth don’t commit crimes it’s that simple.
I mean they are letting biological males into female prisons so you are going to see a lot more pregnancies in prison

I’m a woman and think this is ridiculous! If you don’t want to go to prison don’t break the law! Simples. The baby can go to the father or family until the mum has done her time. Don’t let pregnancy be an excuse to commit crime!

This group doesn't seem to realise how criminals will abuse this, just like they have by getting kids to hold/move drugs. If there is no punishment for doing it, then pregnant women or new mothers (a lot of who might well need money) will be targetted by gangs to move drugs.
What about new fathers then? Or is gender equality a step too far?

if you break the law, it shouldn't matter if your pregnant or a new mother! you should get treated the same! the reason more women get more suspended sentences instead of prison time is because they're female! they want equal rights when it suits them!

Don’t do the crime in the first place. Can’t see why women should be treated any different to men. There will be an increase in pregnancies of women awaiting trial !!!
If a pregnant woman commits an offence that means she needs to be jailed then she shouldn’t be treated any different to anyone else when her child is born it should automatically be put in to care or adopted. This country is far to soft with its justice service

No justification for jailing pregnant women and new mothers, the system is unable to provide appropriate healthcare and so shouldn’t be able to incarcerate these women.
