Still, as a born and bred Parisienne, I have to admit that the show feels strangely attractive in a French context. Let me explain. When you scratch the surface, what is the show really about? Simple: the tensions that inevitably exist between solidarity, betrayal and seduction – all of which have their own particular presence in local culture.

The question still remains: just how French will the show be? Precious little has been revealed. To put it in the words of Matthieu Grelier, director of programming at ITV Studios France: “We will only speak, live, and vibrate through love.” Intriguing,
