Certain strains of gut bacteria could heighten the risk of bowel cancer by up to 15%, study claims

Bristol scientists found Bacteroidales bacteria increased risk by eight per cent. A person's microbiome make-up is predominantly decided by genetic lottery. Dr Kaitlin Wade, first author, presented the findings at conference in Glasgow.
