Charity Cats Protection is encouraging Lanarkshire owners to recycle everyday materials into enrichment, ensuring that their favourite felines’ mental health and physical needs are met.Sammie Ravenscroft, regional behaviour officer, explained: “Enrichment is essential to keeping cats happy and healthy by allowing them to express their innate behaviours, but it doesn’t need to be expensive or difficult.
“Play can provide fantastic enrichment. Feather fishing rod style toys are great for engaging your cat and you can vary movements to find their preferred play style, whether it mimics mice or birds.” An even easier way to make an instant puzzle feeder is by placing a mug on its side with biscuits in, so cats need to ‘fish’ the food out.
