A cat may not survive emergency surgery after its tail was ripped off by a brand new reclining sofa.
Mr Harris had to hold his pet down and dismantle the chair while the distressed animal thrashed around and screamed in pain. ‘We had to lift up the three-seater sofa, with him still stuck in the mechanism, and try to get him out. His eyes were dilated and he was screaming in pain.‘Imagine holding the cat for 50 minutes while we desperately tried to find tools from anywhere. I had to rip him out with my bare fingers.’
The pet owner said it was the first time he and his wife had sat in the sofa as they settled down to watch TV with a cup of tea late on Sunday evening. A spokesperson for Harveys told Wales Online: ‘We are deeply sorry to hear that the tail of Mr Harris’ cat got trapped in the recliner mechanism in his sofa and suffered an injury.
