There was almost an hour and a half between the time law enforcement arrived on scene and the time the gunman was shot dead, according to Texas police. News reports have depicted a scene where desperate parents begged police to enter the building and go after the gunman. Frustrated by a lack of action some tried to go in and do it themselves, only to be pinned down, arrested and pepper sprayed by law enforcement.
